Pearson Warshaw, LLP, co-lead counsel for the Direct Purchaser Plaintiffs, is pleased to announce that United States District Court Judge John R. Tunheim of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota has granted final approval of three class action settlements totaling $64 million in the In re Pork Antitrust Litigation class action litigation.

The settlements resolve claims against defendants Tyson Foods, Inc. ($50 million), Clemens Food Group, LLC ($10 million), and Triumph Foods, LLC ($4 million). These court-approved class action settlements bring the total recovery for the Direct Purchaser Plaintiff Class to more than $180 million from all defendants in the case to date.

The class action litigation alleged that some of the nation’s largest pork producers conspired to limit supply and fix prices in violation of federal antitrust laws, causing Direct Purchaser Plaintiffs to pay inflated prices for pork products. Pearson Warshaw, along with its co-lead counsel, prosecuted the case vigorously on behalf of the Direct Purchaser Plaintiff Class for seven years, overcoming complex legal and factual challenges.

The matter is In re Pork Antitrust Litigation, and is currently pending in the District of Minnesota, Case No. 0:18-cv-01776-JRT-JFD.
