In re National Collegiate Athletic Association Athletic Grant-in-Aid Cap Antitrust Litigation, Northern District of California, MDL No. 2451. PW attorneys currently serve as co-lead counsel in this multidistrict litigation that alleges the NCAA and its member conferences violate the antitrust laws by restricting the value of grant-in-aid athletic scholarships and other benefits that college students who are football and basketball players can receive. PW settled the damages case and obtained final approval of a $208 million dollar settlement. PW attorneys with co-counsel have completed a bench trial for the injunctive portion of the case. A verdict for Plaintiffs was awarded, and the United States Supreme Court issued an Opinion affirming the verdict 9-0. See NCAA v. Alston, 141 S.Ct. 2141 (2021).
