In January 2026, Pearson Warshaw filed an antitrust class action lawsuit on behalf of indirect consumers who purchased eggs. The complaint alleges that egg producers conspired to fix, raise, and stabilize the price of conventional shell eggs sold in the United States since at least January 2022, causing consumers to pay artificially inflated prices. Plaintiffs allege that Defendants coordinated their conduct by sharing competitively sensitive information and manipulating a widely used industry pricing benchmark, which is informed in part by transactions on the Egg Clearinghouse spot market. The complaint contends that these coordinated actions allowed producers to amplify modest supply disruptions and cost increases into unprecedented price spikes that cannot be explained by market forces alone. As a result, millions of consumers nationwide are alleged to have been overcharged for a staple commodity.
As interim co-lead counsel, Pearson Warshaw will play a key role in directing litigation efforts, coordinating with co-counsel, and ensuring that the interests of the Indirect Consumer Plaintiffs are vigorously represented. The Court’s appointment underscores the firm’s extensive experience in complex antitrust and class action litigation.

Pearson Warshaw also serves as co-lead class counsel for direct purchasers in In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litig., No. 1:16-cv-08637 (N.D. Ill.), an antitrust case alleging that chicken producers conspired to increase prices. Settlements in that case totaled $284 million.
